"Why Money Is So Important To God"

 I. Does God Really Care About Money?

   A. Money and a tax-collector.  (Luke 19:8-9)

   B. Money and a young professional.  (Mark 10:21-27)

   C. Money and a poverty-stricken widow.  (Luke 21:1-4)

   D. Money and a successful investor. (Luke 12:16-21)

 II. Why Is Money So Important To God?

   A. Because our love of money easily replaces our love for God.

“Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.”  Colossians. 3:5

 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”  Matthew 6:24

   B. Because our love for money hurts us.

     1. A love for money blinds us to the liabilities of wealth.

 “He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity. [11] When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look on? [12] The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep.  [13] There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: riches being hoarded by their owner to his hurt.“ Ecclesiastes 5:10-13

     2. A love for money makes us vulnerable to other temptations.  

"Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, [11] and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, [12] then watch yourself, that you do not forget the Lord who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.“ Deut. 6:10-12
