THE EXAMPLE OF PUTTING OTHERS FIRST Inside The Mind Of Jesus "Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 1. I Will Surrender What Belongs To Me For The Good Of Others. who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, 2. I Will Be The Servant In Every Relationship. taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 3. I Will Suffer Whatever Is Necessary For The Good Of Others. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 4. I Will Trust God To Reward Me In His Own Time And Way. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Some Questions To Think About And Discuss. Think about the times when you feel the most selfish. What personal rights are you most resistant to surrendering? What are you afraid of losing in those situations?
Do you see a greater tendency in yourself to exalt yourself now or to trust God to exalt you later? What needs would you need to trust God for now to become a more selfless person? |
