HOW TO FIND YOUR JOY IN CHRIST II

1. Choose The Right Goal.

". . .that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead."

2. Measure Your Progress.

"Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;"

3. Focus Your Efforts.

"Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

4. Don’t Run Alone.

For Further Thought And Discussion.

1. Are you further along now in knowing Christ and becoming like Him than you were a year ago?

    • Are you more conscientious in doing what you know is right now than you were a year ago?
    • Do you understand the Bible better now than you did a year ago?
    • Are you more conscious of your need to live as a Christian in secret as well as in public now than you were a year ago?
    • Is your conscience more sensitive to good and evil now than it was a year ago?
    • Are you more intentional about being Christlike in all your relationships now than you were a year ago?
    • Does what people think about you matter less to you now than it did a year ago?
    • Do you deny yourself more now to reach a greater goal than you did a year ago?
    • Are you more concerned about the welfare of your soul than about the comfort of your body than you were a year ago?
    • Do you enjoy God more now than you did a year ago?
    • Do you talk about spiritual matters more now than you did a year ago?
    • Do you pray more now than you did a year ago?

2. In what areas do you need to press on and exert more effort? (e.g., where are you on automatic pilot right now?)

    • In your relationship with God?
    • In your relationships with your family?
    • In your relationships with other believers?
    • In your relationships with those outside the church?
    • In serving God and others?
    • In believing God for things you don't yet see?
