John Bruce (Pastor) graduated from California State University at Long Beach in music education in 1970.  He then joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ and was assigned to the University of California at Berkeley where he served for 12 years as the campus director of CCC.  In 1982, John joined the staff of First Covenant Church of Oakland where he served as Director of Discipleship and Evangelism for 8 years.  In 1990, John and a group of families from First Covenant planted Creekside in San Leandro, California.  John has been married to Laurie since 1978.  They have two children, Jenny, who directs the Creekside Children’s Ministry, and Jeff who is a student at Talbot Seminary.  John loves sports of all kinds, especially competitive swimming, and is a member of the Manatees Aquatic Masters Swim Club in Oakland.  He is a rabid fan of Cal football, the A’s, and the 49ers, and is a passionate (though horrible) golfer.  He also enjoys reading, films, and board games.  John's passion is to become a better disciple of Jesus and to see men and women reproduce the character and ministry of Jesus in the East Bay.

Sharon Wallace (Director of Facilities) With no formal training in theology, Bible studies, or experience in ministry, coming to work for Creekside Church was the result of a “whisper” from the Holy Spirit that took Sharon out of her comfort zone and placed her in a position that allows her to grow in faith with her Heavenly Father.  With her children almost grown, and a thriving client base after 25 years in advertising sales, Sharon thought she would quietly settle into a comfortable job that she could do with minimal effort.  Unbeknownst to her, God had other plans and Sharon came to work for Creekside Church in October, 2001 as the Office and Facility Manager.  Sharon and her husband Chris have four children and four grandchildren.  When she isn't watching from the sidelines as her kids’ compete in various athletics, Sharon loves quiet afternoons spent on our boat reinforcing her reputation as “the worst fisherman on the planet”.  Sharon and Chris also consider themselves “Road Warriors” and hope one day to explore the back roads of Route 66 (in a Thunderbird Convertible of course).  Sharon is passionate about serving her church and community, working with women and children who suffer from homelessness and domestic violence, and remaining open to future “whispers” from the Holy Spirit.

Yvonne Adams (Administrative Assistant) is a New York native who arrived in San Francisco twenty three years ago, searching for applause  She became a Christian at First Covenant Church of San Francisco, where she was surrounded by amazing women who were not afraid of her New York attitude and loved and guided her into maturity.  Yvonne not only works as Creekside's administrative assistant, but serves in the youth and recovery ministries as well.  Yvonne is a huge jazz fan and is famous for her amazing hugs.

Katie Atwood (Administrative Assistant) serves Creekside’s children’s, youth, and Celebrate Recovery ministries.  She graduated from Bethany University (formerly Bethany Bible College) with a degree in music in 1978.  After almost 20 years of volunteer ministry at a church in Oakland, Katie and her family joined Creekside Community Church in 1997.  Katie and Warren have been married since 1979, and have two grown children.  In addition to her love of reading, singing worship music and spending time in the Word of God with other women, Katie & Warren coordinate membership for the Santa Cruz Chapter of the National Woodie Club.  Katie’s desire is to be used by God in furthering His kingdom, not only through music and Bible study, but also in whatever creative ways the Lord leads.
