Creekside’s Children’s Ministry exists to teach kids and equip their parents to teach them about the greatness of God so they will have confidence in His salvation, worship Him for His character and His works, obey His commandments out of love, and joyfully tell others about Him.

Our mission comes from Psalm 78:2-7:

I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old,
Which we have heard and known,
And our fathers have told us.
We will not conceal them from their children,
But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,
And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.

For He established a testimony in Jacob,
And appointed a law in Israel,
Which He commanded our fathers,
That they should teach them to their children;
That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born,
That they may arise and tell them to their children,
That they should put their confidence in God,
And not forget the works of God,
But keep His commandments. . .

Our vision is that the children who come out of Creekside’s Children’s Ministry will mature into adults who desire to glorify God with their lives, base their decisions on His Word, actively participate and serve as members of His church, and disciple others.

Creekside Children's Ministry has the following values:

We want to produce life-long disciples, not just well behaved kids.

We believe that true obedience stems from a love and fear of God and this only comes when one understands God’s character.  Our goal is not to produce good  behavior in children, but help them to fear and love the living God.   Although we encourage kids to apply the Bible to their lives, we believe that the most important thing for them to understand at this age is God’s character as described in His Word.  When kids love God and trust Him because of who He is, obedience will naturally follow. 

We teach Scripture in a clear, accurate and exciting manner.

The Bible tells the most dramatic and exciting story in history and should be taught in a dramatic and exciting way that gets kids interested in Scripture. Bible stories are taught within their historical context and are explained using concrete and age-appropriate terminology.  For kids to truly understand the story of the Bible, they need to see how it develops from beginning to end, so we teach through the Bible chronologically.  We want kids to be life-long lovers of the Bible and it is crucial that they develop a positive and accurate understanding of it  during childhood.

We are sensitive to the learning styles of children.

In order to learn, kids need to move, experiment, create and engage all their senses.  Kids are not designed to sit quietly for long periods of time and it is  counterproductive to force them to do so. This is why we limit sitting and listening to about five minutes for each class and spend the rest of the time learning about the story through games, crafts, science experiments, drama, and other projects.  We appreciate kids’ life and energy and aim to tailor our programs for that energy as opposed to stifling it.

We strive to help all children feel comfortable and safe at church.

Kids at Creekside come from many different backgrounds.  Some knew about Jesus from the time they were born while others may never have heard of Adam and Eve.  We desire to be sensitive to kids from all backgrounds by refraining from using confusing Christian terminology and never assuming that kids know a Bible story, character, or verse.  At the same time, we provide stimulating Bible lessons that will challenge every kid.
