We are always searching for people with a heart for kids to serve in this ministry. We currently need 37 volunteers to serve on Sunday mornings our nursery, preschool, and elementary classes.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve one Sunday a month for a year.
Volunteers choose which Sunday of the month they would like to serve (first, second, third, or fourth) and whether they would like to serve during the 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. service. Volunteers then have three weeks off before they teach again. At the end of the year, volunteers can choose to serve in Sunday school for another year or pursue other opportunities.

Arrange for their own substitutes when needed.
Sickness, vacations, and the like can sometimes prevent a volunteer from serving on his/her scheduled Sunday. A volunteer can trade Sundays with another volunteer who serves during a different week or ask someone from our list of substitute teachers.

Do any necessary preparatory work for Sunday.
Nursery and preschool volunteers have no preparatory work for Sunday. Elementary teachers should read through their curriculum several times before Sunday to familiarize themselves with the concepts.

SUNDAY SCHOOL FAQS

How often will I serve? Sunday school volunteers commit to serving one Sunday a month during either the 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. service. For instance, you may choose to help on the fourth Sunday of the month during the 9:00 a.m. service.

What if I can't serve on my scheduled Sunday? All volunteers will receive the phone numbers of the other volunteers in their class. They can call one another and swap Sundays when necessary.

Do I need to provide supplies? All supplies are provided.

Is there an age requirement? Nursery volunteers must be over the age of sixteen and female. All preschool and elementary teachers must be over the age of sixteen, but those over the age of twelve can serve as teacher's assistants.

How long am I committed to volunteering? We ask volunteers to commit to serving once a month for a year. At the end of the year, you can decide to serve in Sunday school again or pursue other opportunities.

Is there a background check? New volunteers receive a background check as well as an interview with the Director of Children's Ministries.

Will I be alone in my class? We generally have three to four volunteers serving in each nursery and preschool class. Elementary volunteers can choose to teach alone or request a teaching partner.

Is there any training? All new volunteers are trained in our philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Do I need to know much about the Bible in order to teach? No. Our curriculum is very user friendly and walks you through each part of the lesson. You'll have the chance to learn along with your students!

How much outside preparation time is required? The nursery and preschool classes require no outside preparation time. K-3rd graders are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the curriculum, which can take thirty minutes to an hour. The 4th-5th grade curriculum requires teachers to spend more time in preparation, probably one to two hours.
