RECOGNIZING THE MESSIAH
A. His Humanity.
"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel." (Genesis 3:15)
B. His Nationality.
"Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed." (Genesis 18:18)
C. His Tribe.
"The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes,and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples." (Genesis 49:10)
D. His Family.
"Behold, the days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, 'The Lord our righteousness.' " (Jeremiah 23:5-6)
E. Where He Will Be Born.
"But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity." Micah 5:2
F. When He Will Be Born.
"So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.
